Joining the Retired Public Employees Council of Washington is very simple. The cost is just $5 per month and can be automatically deducted from your retirement check.

Associate Membership For Workers within One Year of Retirement

Policy
RPEC offers one-year free membership to workers within one year of retirement who are participating in PERS and other retirement systems. These members will receive the Council newsletter, chapter newsletters and meeting notices; and may attend chapter meetings and the annual convention as a guest. Associate members will not have voting rights within the chapters or at the convention and may not be convention delegates until they become retired, dues paying members.

Procedure
Active workers within one year of retirement must fully complete an RPEC membership application card, indicating the month and year of retirement, and provide a signature authorizing dues deduction once they retire. Automatic dues deduction will begin one month after they retire.

The applicant should note "Currently working" in the upper left hand corner of the card, and if in a union, their local number immediately beneath.
