Diana Parkison and Marian VanDerHyde, chairs of the Legislative Committee, saw a need for a team of dedicated RPEC members who would be willing – at the drop of a hat – to come to Olympia to fill a hearing room, make phone calls or send e-mails to legislators, or perform other necessary advocacy in a rapid-fire manner at their own expense. This group is vital to respond to events at the legislature, which frequently happen abruptly and with little advance notice.
